Good Shepherd has maintained a presence in Canada since 1844 when a first ministry was established for young women in Montreal. Today Good Shepherd services reach women in transition, youth aging out of the child welfare system, young mothers, children & youth needing residential treatment, aboriginal children and their families as well as young people needing specialized education.
We give witness to the good news of the Creator's compassion, mercy and healing through holistic human services. Our work in social work, counseling, education, housing, advocacy, spiritual direction, and many others are the means through which we model the compassionate care of the Good Shepherd for each person.
The programs operated in Canada embrace holistic perspectives in service and use strength-based approaches to service. These are guided by the Standards of Care for Good Shepherd Agencies which are founded on the CORE values of the Good Shepherd Sisters whose legacy of care is a lasting motivation. To provide ongoing support and training for our many lay professional staff, the Sisters of the Good Shepherd have invested their time and resources to support the Mission Integration Office as a means of enabling the spirit of Good Shepherd to permeate all that is done in their agencies and programs.
