Vocations

The Sisters of the Good Shepherd form one International Congregation ministering in 72 countries on five continents. In the United States, the Sisters are spread from east to west in 23 states and also are in Canada. Founded over two hundred years ago in Angers, France, by St. Mary Euphrasia Pelletier who believed that God is like a compassionate Shepherd whose love for all is boundless, Good Shepherd Sisters respond to a call to reach out to everyone and help awaken in all peoples a sense of each one's unique worth and inestimable value.

  • We believe that "No one should be lost in the chaos of our times."
  • We believe that we are most truly ourselves when we are relational and kind, respectful and caring.
  • We are profoundly convinced that when we work together and maximize our connectedness, we totally exploit our God-given capacity for personal healing, growth and change to the benefit of the human family and of our mother earth.
  • We admit to a preference for those who in any way have been marginalized or left behind, anyone who has been abused or neglected, especially women and children.
