MORE ABOUT OUR MISSION

For the past six years the Sisters of the Good Shepherd have explored innovative ways to build a stronger network of Good Shepherd agencies and programs across North America.  Their ultimate desire is to ensure that the special commitment and values behind Good Shepherd mission endures as a lasting legacy.  They partner, where they can, to strengthen the resolve of the lay professionals to manage and lead the agencies established by the Sisters of the Good Shepherd.

To do this they have invested a great deal of time, resources and funding to bring their lay professional partners together to support one another and build a mission driven identity for their own future.  To this end the Sisters brought together a representative group from across North America to help shape the future of Good Shepherd.  Using the truly energizing and creative approach known as Appreciative Inquiry[1], the mini summit held in 2008  generated new ideas for ongoing collaboration, resource sharing  and support in the work of responding to our world’s most hurt and forgotten people.

Whether it is through the use of new technologies or relationship building, the North American network of GS people commits itself to healing services, justice and advocacy for those marginalized in our society, and reconciliation within all persons so that each may discover and know their truest self.
