Vocations
/ Vowed Sisters
Sisters of the Good Shepherd,
numbering around 5,600 are an international apostolic and contemplative community of
religious women located on six continents in over 67 countries.

St. Mary Euphrasia
knew that "The Good Shepherd does not desire for even one of God's children to be
lost in the chaos of the times." Following in her footsteps, we pay particular
attention to wherever relationships, structures or systems diminish the dignity of the
person. We strive to make positive changes in the lives of others through our
prayer, community life, gospel values and direct service.

The Apostolic Sisters of the Good
Shepherd work to make sure that no one feels outside the circle of Gods
compassionate and healing love through ministry. Our apostolic works include a
variety of human services to those in need, with a particular focus on the needs of women
and children and a keen awareness of the effects of the feminization of poverty throughout
the world.

We are also involved in
challenging unjust systems that keep people in oppressed situations. Good Shepherd Sisters
are a non-governmental organization with special consultative status at the United Nations through the Economic Social Council.
The Contemplative Sisters of the
Good Shepherd seek to bring the Good Shepherd's liberating love to all God's
people through contemplative prayer, silence, solitude, faithfulness to the gospel, and
meditation on the Word of God.
If you have a particular concern
for which you would like us to pray, we invite you to contact us at goodshep@mnsi.net.
In solidarity with the poor, we
support ourselves by:
making vestments
supplying
altar breads to parishes
artistic works
creative computer work - designing
graphics,
cards and composing music.
