Volunteers
Good
Shepherd ministries are greatly enriched by the contributions of
many volunteers. There is a range of volunteer opportunities
from lending a hand several hours a week at one of our agencies
to serving on the board of directors. If you are interested in
contributing your time and talents as a Good Shepherd volunteer
please contact your local Good Shepherd agency.
There is also a
formal volunteer program for those who desire to work for a year
in a Good Shepherd ministry while gaining service experience and
earning a small stipend. The Good
Shepherd Volunteers share in the mission of the Good
Shepherd and live in a small faith-based community with other
Good Shepherd Volunteers.
"The Good
Shepherd Volunteers is a service association which exists for
the purpose of expressing the Gospel values of the Good Shepherd
in today’s world. Our goal is to approach each person as Jesus
the Good Shepherd would, awakening in them their special beauty
and encouraging them to reach their fullest potential. We are
committed to promoting justice and peace and to impacting those
systems and structures which condemn some to live a marginalized
life. Through a relational and daily sharing of the Gospel
values, which impel our choices and activities, we deepen the
bonds of our common humanity. Through attention to the spiritual
dimensions of life we seek to strengthen our understanding of
God’s presence in our daily activities."
