Focus of Program: A public transfer high school operated in equal partnership with the New York City Department of Education, designed to give
young people who are truant or have dropped out a second chance to earn a high school diploma and the supports they need to overcome the issues that were once roadblocks to
academic success. Good Shepherd's first transfer school, and the program upon which our successful transfer high school model is based, SBCHS is located in the Red Hook
section of Brooklyn and provides a full-day academic program and support services to 150 youth. The program also incorporates the DOE's Learning to Work initiative, which
offers in-depth exploration of career and educational options, as well as hands-on experience through subsidized internships.
