Focus of Program: The Gathering Place is a new Good Shepherd Program started September 8, 1997.  It is a multi-service holistic center using the services of three Good Shepherd Sisters and a few volunteers.  The Program offers help and assistance in the areas of Counseling, various modalities of therapeutic body work, Education and job search preparation.  Our target population is those individuals and families who because of financial difficulties or lack of health insurance or both, fall through the cracks of society's present social service system.  Often these people do no know where to turn to "get a hand up" at a difficult time in their lives.   our fee for services is based on a low sliding scale.  We hope to develop programs and services specifically designed to offer the help needed to keep people mentally and physically healthy and economically productive.  Our services would include individual, family and marital counseling, therapeutic body work, tutorial assistance, basic computer skills, language arts skills, resume and cover letter writing, job search, parenting classes.  We have also conducted workshops and evenings of prayer and sharing in response to clients' request and interest.

Our goal is to offer assistance to persons motivated to move from public assistance, such as welfare, back into the work place; persons returning to the job market; individuals in need of short term counseling; and those with health care and/or physical and emotional abuse issues for which therapeutic body work would be beneficial.
